The English say that practice makes perfect. This is one of the sayings I find to be true because practice improves and strengthens our ability to live out God’s best for our lives.
Athletes -like our Ugandan hero Cheptegei who won us a gold medal in the recently concluded Olympics- don’t become great by reading about their sport; they practice. One can’t just train for a marathon by reading a how-to win a marathon article, they have to actually run and make a habit of it for this is what helps them to master the art and craft of it.
This is the same for us as children of God to grow in the grace and power of God, we need to practice and live out the word of God continuously and consistently in our lives. Do what God says for you to do and that’s how you’ll be able to see the results that you want to see.
SCRIPTURE READING: James 1:22-25 KJV But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
DEVOTION PRAYER: Father in the name of Jesus, I pray for grace to work and practice your word in all I do in the mighty name of Jesus.
